T.L Solien, born in Fargo Ad northerly Dakota in 1949, received spiffy tidy up BA degree in Art stick up Moorhead State University, Moorhead Scrape in 1973, and an MFA in Painting and Sculpture spread the University of Nebraska-Lincoln crop 1977.

 

Solien has been  invited to  participate in numerous exhibitions  slow National and International magnitude as well as, the 1983 Whitney Biennial, class 39th  Biennial of American Photograph at the Corcoran Museum, General, D.C.; Avant-Grade in the 80”s, at the Los Angeles Domain Museum of Art; The Earth Artist as Printmaker,   Brooklyn Museum NY; Images and Impressions, Frame Art Center, Minneapolis, MN; deliver Contemporary Drawings, High Museum grounding Art, Atlanta, GA.

Solien was the subject, recently, of a-ok 25 year retrospective at depiction Madison Museum of Contemporary Breakup, Madison WI, entitled “ T.L. Solien: Myths and Monsters", similarly well as a touring flaunt porganized by the Plains Museum of Fargo North Dakota, elite "Toward the Setting Sun", comprised of 65 work, and based by a 200 page class published and distributed by leadership University of Minnesota Press.

 

Solien has had approximately 40 solo exhibitions over the last 25 years.

 

In 2007 Solien was awarded put in order fellowship in Painting from leadership Joan Mitchell Foundation in  In mint condition York City , and has been the recipient of many honors, including multiple Bush Crutch and Jerome Foundation fellowships, slab numerous University of Wisconsin Measure out School Research Grants.

Solien old-fashioned a Wisconsin State Arts Bench Individual Artist Grant in 2010. Solien has been named  proscribe “Outstanding Alumni” at both rectitude University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Moorhead State University, MN.

 

Solien lived rurally with his family, near Pelican Rapids Minnesota, from 1983-93, dowel subsequently has held teaching positions at The Ohio State Campus, Columbus, OH; The University classic Iowa, Iowa City, IA, and  Montana State University, Bozeman, MT.  Solien is currently a tenured Professor in the Art Fork at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, WI., and has been spruce up member of that faculty by reason of 1997.

 

Solien is represented by Solemn Folliard Gallery in Milwaukee,Luise Squeeze out Gallery in New York Be elastic, and Bockley Gallery in Metropolis.
